Technological Exploration

So, it’s going to be really exciting when I get my new MacBook, but since I wont have that before this mini-project is due I decided to play around a little with Windows Movie Maker!

I was just importing some pictures that might work in my “Where am I” digital story and playing around with putting in titles and transitions and music! Its really simple to use and I created my very first image for the story! Soo…this is just a short post to say Im excited :)

The next step is harder…what to include in this story…Where Am I?

Where am I?

Okay I have been procrastinating so much on writing this so here goes…

Last night in class we were given an assignment to do a less-than two minute digital story on where we are. So where am I? I think I have a few worthwhile ideas for this project so Im going to try to talk them out. I think a good way to begin exploring where I am is to find out where Ive been. I may try to incorporate some music or video but I know I am using pictures, its just figuring out how to put it all together in less than two weeks without my new computer yet…

Okay that was a tangent. Well, how did I get into scene painting? A fluke. No, really…I wanted to be an actor when I came to college. Then sophomore year I found myself in the first day of Costume Construction. It was there I learned I would be required to complete a certain number of hours, which worried me because I was already having to complete lots of hours in Stagecraft. So, I looked at my options and decided “Scene Painting” sounded fun and wouldn’t take up too much time (ha!).

I liked painting as soon as I started but I was very intimidated and not very good… I hated my first project and threw it away right after it was graded. But then we got another assignment: Paint a stone wall on one half of the flat, paint a brick wall on the other half. My stone wall went the way of my first project (Read: trash) but I still have my bricks. I love that brick wall. I was actually good at painting bricks, and thats when it first occured to me that I might like to explore other areas besides acting.

It all started with bricks…
